“Gothic Americana meets noir folk with a punk backbone.” That’s how Gerry Arias, a Latin-American songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Andover, New Jersey, describes his sound — and it fits. Blending Americana, folk, blues, reggae, country, and rock with desert atmospheres, bilingual lyrics, and outsider storytelling, Gerry creates emotionally raw music that resonates with grit, soul, and truth.
Raised in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, Gerry grew up surrounded by diverse rhythms, street-level honesty, and the restless pulse of underground culture. Over the years, he’s carved out a path as an independent artist, playing hundreds of shows across the East Coast and building a loyal following through intimate performances, genre-blending records, and relentless artistic vision.
His latest album, UNVAULTED (2025), represents a turning point. Composed of songs recorded years earlier but never released, the album explores themes of identity, resistance, and emotional survival. “I shelved those tracks for years,” says Arias, “but when I finally let them out, I realized they captured something deeper: unfiltered truth.” The record features standout tracks like Sweetest Melody, Too Way Too Long, and the upcoming Spanglish single Películas — a bilingual nod to memory and loss.
In 2024, he re-released MIXED SIGNALS, a project originally recorded with Grammy-winning producer Ben Elliott but taken down following Elliott’s passing. The new version featured the songs Gerry had performed entirely on his own, reclaiming the spirit of those early sessions. A year later, he followed with DELUXE, which included additional material from the same period — with guest appearances by Monk Americana and Nubian Nightmare, and the track list restored to Ben’s original vision. Both records were mastered by world-renowned engineer Howie Weinberg, whose credits include Nirvana, Jeff Buckley, and the Beastie Boys.
Now signed to Latin Punk Records, Gerry continues to define a space for Latin-American alternative music rooted in Americana tradition but charged with punk spirit and emotional urgency. Whether playing solo or with his trio, every performance feels less like a show and more like a shared moment — a place where vulnerability, melody, and raw energy meet.
